Change in Terminology: Allowlist and Denylist
Cambium Assessment, Inc. (CAI) updated and resent a recent announcement about 2020-21 URLs to add to the allowlist on testing devices. As an organization with diverse employees, users, and clients, CAI is restating its commitment against all forms of racism and injustice. Knowing that words must match actions, CAI will replace the discriminatory words ‘whitelist’ and 'blacklist' with ‘allowlist’ and ‘denylist’ for identifying URLs and email addresses that should be allowed or blocked on testing devices. This change in terminology is a small, but important step toward disrupting and removing racism in US culture and workplaces.
